April 2012

Sakura season is here!!! =D

I waited all year for this time to come and the sakura are SO beautiful! I went to hanami (to go see sakura) about 4 times this year and it was so nice.

Eating under the sakura trees are a norm in Japan. =) Here's my host family with some of their friends as well.

For the Freshman festival at our school, my Koto club members and I got to wear kimonos and perform for students who potentially wanted to join our club! The Kimono took about 3 professionals fussing over me for 20 minutes to put on...I never knew how complicated it was =S..But I was so fun to wear one!

All of the members together! =)

Hanami at night time was so pretty too!

Bamboo forest while we were at hanami. =)

Really nice Indonesian? man...he gave me a free Dragon's beard candy! It was SO delicious...I need to get some back in Calgary! He's making it here =D

My speaking partner Mariko invited me to her home in Kobe where her elementary teacher held an easter event for these kids. =) I was able to practice some of my Japanese on these really cute kids!

Mmmm...Pancakes...with bacon and sausages =D

Went to USJ again of course! And they opened up this new Hello Kitty fashion store. =D

This was taken while we were at hanami again...I couldn't resist...this kid was WAY too cute!!! =D

March 2012

Long time no blog! I'm really sorry for not updating that much recently. Honestly it's just because I got lazy. >_< Since I'm so behind, I might actually write 2 or 3 blogs all at once!

I know it's already May but I'm gonna write about what I did here in March! =)

I started off the month by taking a day trip with my Pacific Rivalry class to Hiroshima. There, we got to meet and an atomic bomb survivor who's story was so touching. It's something I'll remember for a really long time. Afterwards, we explored the war memorial museum which was super interesting.

This lady was the atomic bomb survivor from Hiroshima. Her story was amazing.

I also got a chance to go to the Osaka aquarium again. I forgot how big it was and the fish were soooo cool!

This really weird fish was everywhere!

As sakura season was about to start, Okasan and Otousan decided to take a day trip out to Osaka castle to see all the pretty flowers =)

We also took a trip to the Osaka zoo! However, this zoo is actually really old looking and all the environments the animals were placed in didn't seem good for them...

The highlight of March was for sure our spring break trip to Okinawa!!! It was one of the best trips ever!!! =D Tons of beaches, beautiful weather, amazing ice cream...I can go on and on!

OMG SOOOO delicious!!! Famous Okinawa soba! The soba in Okinawa is really different...it's more like a mix between ramen and regular soba..but the pork was SO good!

Weird famous wine...that has a dead snake fermenting in a jar with the wine...=S

We had Blue Seal ice cream EVERY SINGLE DAY!!! =D

べニイモ Famous purple yam in Okinawa =)

Blue Seal again...They had a 3 scoops for 2 deal the week we went! =D

Okinawa Aquarium! I personally liked the Osaka one better but this one was really good too. =)

Weird fish that stand up in the sand...

HUGE shark!

We spent time at Okinawa world where there was a snake park. =S..

Trying to hide in it's shell...I won't hurt you...=(

Awesome underground cave!!!

Me with a huge snake =S...

Of course we had to go to Pineapple Park! The song from their commercial will forever be ingrained in my head. =D

Pineapple car! =D

March was such a fun month overall. I LOVED Okinawa so much, I'll remember it for years to come! I wish I could go back in time T_T...
